Dr Elena Kakoulli acquired a Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Informatics of the Cyprus University of Technology. She holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Cyprus (B.Sc 2007, M.Sc 2009, Ph.D 2015). In recognition of her excellent work during her postgraduate studies she received 2 prizes from the University of Cyprus and the Marfin Laiki Bank Foundation. In the past, Dr Kakoulli worked in Cyprus University of Technology as a Research Associate in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Informatics. She was involved in several research projects (some in partnership with the University of Cyprus) related to computer architecture, interconnection networks, high-performance computing, on-chip networks and multi-core architectures, with emphasis on high-throughput multidimentional on-chip interconnection network topologies and architectures using in-silicon photonic interconnects, micro-architectural performance enhancements and design-space exploration. She is also collaborating with Dr Herodoto Herodotou at the Cyprus University of Technology, on a research project related to distributed multi-tier storage for cluster computing. In addition, her work experience also includes Teaching Assistant at University of Cyprus as well as Expert Scientist at Cyprus University of Technology and Lecturer at Ctl Eurocollege, where she helped in teaching for various courses such as introductory programming, structured programming, operating systems, compilers, programming principles, computer architecture and computer organization and microprocessors. Her research interests lie in the fields of computer architecture, on-chip interconnection networks, photonics and systems for large scale data analytics.
